Wonderful lake view and our dog loved the local hiking nearby!

We had a great week at Lake James, which is an absolutely beautiful, quiet lake with plenty of undeveloped shoreline. The home’s location is excellent—close to the water with minimal stairs, unlike many lake homes. The bedrooms were comfortable, especially the primary bed, and we loved spending time with our family here.Unfortunately, the home itself had several maintenance and management issues that affected our stay. The upstairs queen bedroom does not have an attached bathroom (something the listing could make clearer), and the bathroom door was broken upon arrival until repaired on day three. We also had no outdoor trash cans for several days, which led to overflowing trash and significant ant problems. Communication with the property manager started well but became slow, requiring repeated follow-ups.Additional issues included no hot water in the downstairs bathroom, multiple burned-out lights (dock, entry, and inside), upstairs bedrooms that stayed much warmer than downstairs, mold around the refrigerator water dispenser, drain flies, and other insects. The dock was also too small to accommodate our standard-size pontoon rental.The home has great potential because of its location, but it needs more consistent maintenance and better property oversight. With routine inspections and quicker issue resolution, this could easily be a much better rental experience.

Beautiful place with a beautiful view!!! Would recommend for anyone looking to visit Lake James. The only criticism I have is that the driveway is somewhat narrow with brick walls on the side and was difficult to pull in or out with my truck.
