My brother and I are professional & experienced motorcycle riders. The good... This property came up because it is very close to the Blue Ridge parkway. The home is BEAUTIFUL, peaceful, quiet, secluded, clean, relaxing, has nice beds and is stocked with everything you need to stay comfortably for a long while.. the views throughout the day are wonderful and the creek below makes the most relaxing sounds. The area offers 2 nearby cities where you can find anything you need within minutes. The ONLY not so good about this cabin is the air conditioning, which we had to turn off. The noise from all 3 units were a high pitched squeal that after a few hours of arrival drove us crazy. We were lucky enough to have some great weather instead though.WHAT I WISH I KNEW... like I said we went for a motorcycle trip, hauling our bikes to the cabin. Unless you can turn your trailer by hand, this is not the area you want. These driveways are so steep and loose with dirt and gravel we had some real issues working with them and I did dump my bike for the first time in my life within 5 minutes on the first day, and that was going down! My brother, who is a professional sport bike racer and rider, had to take my bike UP every time because it was unmanageable for me, and I've been riding my entire adult life. The home and area are fantastic, but not really suited for a motorcycle trip. Our 2 cents. Thank you.

All 3 mini-split ACs sound like a Prius backing up... inside the house. Management knew before we arrived -- never mentioned it. When it was rainy, the house grew uncomfortably humid with them off. Running the noisy units when we weren’t around didn’t fix the mildew vibe downstairs. The place smelled like damp regret.Note!! Requires all-wheel drive / truck even in summer. Exiting NFork, you can’t see the road down without a front-facing camera. After the one-lane bridge, steep climb, then a hard left dodging deep ruts. Fun! Adventure!Fast-running “Gnat Creek” is nice! The walk up a well-maintained path will take your breath away—from the steepness, not just the view. Handrails are super helpful. The “slipper when wet” signs are not just for decoration. Ask me how I know. Nice butterflies. Gorgeous Luna moths are drawn to the ever-buzzing floodlight; their body parts are… everywhere on the stairs. This could be a wonderful rental, but the creek is doing the heavy lifting. There are some other issues (sliding doors that don’t; creaky floors, a downstairs that needs to work harder on clean and charming.)The kitchen is well stocked. Big plus. A minus -- the cookware may be flaking off PFAS. And we received exactly three dishwashing pods for eight days. Conveniently… stingy.Restaurants aren’t 10 minutes away—more like 20 on twisty roads, unless you plan to dine at the Dollar General. I’d recommend only if they have fixed the mini splits, which are also the primary heat.
